The Military Museum is open every day of the year, 1-4 pm except for Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year’s and Easter.  Admission is free.

Fort Taber Park is open every day, dawn to dusk.  The Fort is open for special events only, as advertised.

  • Summer Parking

Pass parking is required at Fort Taber Park during the summer. Beginning June 21st parking fees will be implemented seven days a week up to and including the Labor Day holiday in September.  Daily Beach attendants will only be available at East Beach and Fort Taber to serve your parking pass needs.

Daily passes may be purchased:
New Bedford Residents Daily Fee- $1 per vehicle
Non-Residents Daily Fee- $15 per vehicle

Museum visitors may obtain a waiver for parking fees.  Tell the attendant that you are visiting the museum, and park in the museum parking spaces.  In the museum ask the docent for a parking permit and place it on the dashboard of your car.

Season passes are available for purchase for $5, New Bedford residents only. These can be obtained from the Elm Street Garage, Traffic Division or City Clerk’s Office in City Hall. Proof of residency is required: license and registration must both state New Bedford in order to qualify.
